FUD decoys are cut from neoprene rather than moulded in plastic, so they fold flat and a full pattern goes into a coat pocket instead of a sack in the back of the truck. That is the whole argument for them: if you are walking to the flightline or setting a pattern on a spur-of-the-moment permission, weight and bulk decide whether the decoys come at all.
Four species are stocked, all in packs of six - wood pigeon, crow, European magpie and lesser Canada goose. Being flat and flexible, they will sit on stubble, float on water or lie on ice, which a rigid full-body shell will not do without its own stake or keel.
They work best as pattern-fillers. Put your best full-body or shell decoys where birds will look hardest, and use the FUDs to build numbers out at the edges where a silhouette is all that is needed.
