What to carry
- Pocket multi-tool — a Victorinox Classic SD or a pliers-based tool covers most of what goes wrong in a highseat or on a gate. Carry it in a belt pouch and it is actually with you; carry it loose in a pack and it is not.
- Replaceable-blade knives — Outdoor Edge and Muddy SWAP blades save you stopping to strop halfway through a gralloch. A fresh blade every carcass beats a tired one on the third.
- Saws — a telescoping pole saw such as the HME clears shooting lanes and branches from the ground rather than off a ladder.
