A chronograph is the only way to know what your rifle is actually doing. NateChrony build a muzzle-mounted unit aimed squarely at air rifle shooters, which is where the question matters most.
Why it matters
Across Great Britain an air rifle developing more than 12 ft/lb, or an air pistol over 6 ft/lb, is not an air weapon in law — it is a Section 1 firearm and needs a firearm certificate. A rifle can drift over that line as a spring settles, a seal goes or a regulator creeps, and you will not feel it happen. Pellet weight changes the figure too, so a rifle that is legal on one tin is not automatically legal on another.
In Scotland an Air Weapon Certificate is required to buy, use or possess any air weapon at all — that is on top of the power limits above, not instead of them. Both BushWear shops are in Scotland.
The range
The v2.5 comes in a polymer and an aluminium body; the aluminium is heavier but takes knocks better if it lives in a gun bag. The SteadyShot adds a training function on top of the chronograph, giving you a reading on hold as well as velocity.
Adapters
The unit mounts to the muzzle, so it needs an adapter matched to your rifle. Fixed adapters are listed for the TX200/HC, HW77 and HW97; the variable adapter covers a range of other barrels. Check which you need before ordering — it is the part people forget.
