      A short kit list for the roe buck season, from calling through to the freezer.

      Calling in the rut

      The roe rut runs through late July and August, and that is when a call earns its keep. The Buttolo Blatter is a rubber-bellows call, and the Hubertus Roe Call 3 is a cherrywood call with variable pitch. Call sparingly and be ready: a buck can come in fast, and often not from the direction you expect. More in deer calls.
