      Rucksacks built for carrying a rifle and getting a beast off the hill — which is a different job from a walking pack.

      • Vorn — the Norwegian packs, and the ones most UK stalkers settle on. LT12 at 12 litres for a short outing, EV30 at 30 litres for a full day, EV45 at 45 litres with the quick-release rifle system for hill work and extraction.
      • SwedTeam — the Alpha 5 at 5 litres for the absolute minimum, the Tracker Molltec for modular carry, and the Ridge 38 with a rifle protector and built-in seat.

      Sizing, roughly: under 15 litres for an evening sit where you carry sticks, a knife and a flask; 25–35 litres for a full day with layers and lunch; 40 litres and up if you expect to carry meat.

      The features worth paying for are rifle carry that actually releases quickly, a frame that transfers load to your hips, and a back panel you can hose down.
